Chrome extension
Privacy policy
Last updated October 2, 2026
This policy covers the TransClipper extension for Chrome and other Chromium browsers. Your TransClipper account itself is covered by our main privacy policy. The short version: the extension analyses pages you choose to open, keeps that data in your browser, and only sends something to TransClipper when you're signed in and use a feature that needs our servers. We don't sell data, show ads, or track your general browsing.
What the extension reads
- On TikTok, YouTube and Instagram only: the public video data those sites already send to your browser while you view a creator's profile or a video — for example video links, captions, view/like/comment counts, duration and post date. The extension does not make extra requests to those sites, does not read your messages, and does not act on your account there.
- On transclipper.ai: it marks pages so the site knows the extension is installed, and on the connect page it receives the sign-in token for your TransClipper account.
- It does not run on, or read, any other website.
What is stored in your browser
- Your TransClipper sign-in token (until you disconnect or uninstall).
- The video data for the profile open in each tab, so the side panel can show analytics. This is session storage and is cleared when the tab or browser closes.
- A random install ID, which profiles you've analysed (handles only, used to show a one-time review prompt and the no-account preview), and simple preferences.
What is sent to TransClipper, and when
Nothing about the pages you view is sent unless you are signed in. When you are:
- Score lookups: links of videos on the profile you're viewing, to check whether TransClipper already has a viral score for them.
- YouTube stats: YouTube video IDs, so we can return exact counts from the YouTube Data API.
- When you click a feature: the video links you choose to transcribe or score, the profile you choose to follow, or — for the AI report — captions and stats of that creator's top and typical videos.
- Usage events: product events such as “extension installed”, “profile analysed” or “upgrade clicked”, with the install ID and simple counts. These are forwarded to Google Analytics to measure the product. They never include page content or your browsing history.
Videos you transcribe are processed and stored in your TransClipper account exactly as if you had pasted the link on transclipper.ai. Payments go through Stripe; the extension never sees card details.
What we never do
- Sell or rent your data, or use it for advertising.
- Collect your browsing history or read sites other than the ones listed above.
- Use the data for creditworthiness or lending purposes.
- Load or run remote code — all extension code ships in the package reviewed by the Chrome Web Store.
Your controls
- Disconnect from the extension's menu at any time; the token is deleted and revoked tokens stop working immediately.
- Uninstalling removes everything the extension stored in your browser.
- To delete your TransClipper account and its data, follow the main privacy policy or contact us.
