What is an MCP server?+
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard way AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor connect to outside tools. Once you add TransClipper, your AI can transcribe videos, score them and research creators on its own while it answers you.
Is it free?+
Yes, with a free TransClipper account: 3 transcripts a day, creator outlier scores and viral library search. Pro unlocks full analysis, hooks, scripts, bulk transcripts and breakout reports — the same limits as the TransClipper app, no separate subscription.
Which AI apps does it work with?+
Claude (web, desktop and mobile), ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, VS Code and any app that supports remote MCP servers. Apps that only run local servers can use it through mcp-remote.
How is this different from a transcript connector?+
Transcripts are where most tools stop. TransClipper also tells your AI why a video worked — a viral score, hook type and structure — finds a creator's breakout videos against their own baseline, and writes hooks and scripts from proven videos. Your AI gets answers, not just raw text.
Is my data safe?+
You sign in with your own TransClipper account through OAuth, so your AI app never sees your password and you can disconnect it at any time. Videos you transcribe are saved to your library, exactly as in the app.
Which platforms are supported?+
TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and regular YouTube videos for transcripts and analysis. Creator listings work for TikTok and YouTube; Instagram doesn't expose profile post lists, so use single Reel links there.
Can I use an API key instead of signing in?+
Yes. On Pro, create a key in Dashboard → Settings and send it as “Authorization: Bearer tc_live_…”. That's handy for Cursor, Claude Code and automations.
